    Welcome to Qobrix, Super User!

    So, somebody thought your life wasn’t difficult enough and now you have one more system to worry about.  Right? We hear you.  But don’t you worry.  We know the pains of system administration.  We’ve done it plenty.  And we’ve built Qobrix with you, the Super User, in mind.  And we are here for you – any time you, or any of your users have an issue, please don’t hesitate.  Call us.  Email us.  Talk to us.  We’ll sort it out.

    What do I have to do?

    As the administrator of the Qobrix system, you will probably be responsible for a number of things.  Here are a few:

    • User management – creating, updating and deactivating user accounts, changing passwords.
    • Permissions – managing user groups, roles, giving and taking away access rights.
    • Setup and configuration – managing menus and dropdown lists, setting up connectivity with third-party services.
    • Troubleshooting – helping regular users with issues they have using the system, figuring out errors, monitoring activity, etc.

    You’ll probably have more.  Or maybe less.  Whatever the case, we’re here to help.

    How do I do it?

    Qobrix administration is not that difficult.  There are only two parts to it – administration web interface and configuration files.   Some actions can be done only from one, some from the other, and some from both.  And since you are the Super User, it’s up to you to decide what’s easier in every case.  We’ll show you both.

    Administration Web Interface

    For a lot of day-to-day administration, you’ll use the web interface.  It’s fast and simple, aimed at getting out of your way.  Let’s have a look.  Login to the Qobrix system with your superuser credentials.  Click the “Settings” icon in the top-right corner of the screen.  A sidebar will open on the right.  it has tabs.  Switch to the Settings tab and you’ll see the Admin Menu.  Qobrix systems vary a great deal, so the exact menu items that you see can be different.  But it will probably look something like this:

    As you can see, there’s plenty of power in there.  We’ll take you through each item later.  Or you can check it out on your own.  It’s pretty intuitive.

    Configuration Files

    As we said before, some options are available only via the web interface, some via the configuration files, and some are through both.  We’ll tell you which ones are where later.  For now, let us explain why.

    Qobrix systems are very flexible.  That means that there are a lot of different configurations that affect the behavior of the system in different ways.  Some of these options are more dangerous than the others.  A typing mistake in the name of the company is one thing.  A typing mistake in the database password is a total other.  Firstly, we wanted to make sure that all system critical configuration can be edited outside of the system.  Just in case.  Secondly, we’ve seen our fair share of complex configuration interfaces.  We wanted to keep things simple.  So, we have created the web interface for things that are needed day-to-day, and those that does not affect the system stability.  For those configuration options that are touched rarely, or can render things unusable, we’ve used configuration files.

    We are also constantly looking at ways of bring more configuration to the web interface, without sacrificing the simplicity of administration or stability of the system.  So if you want more, let us know, and stay tuned.
